THE APPLICABILITY OF THE DYNAMIC MODULUS OF ELASTICITY, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE FROST RESISTANCE OF CONCRETE

VERWENDBARKEIT DES DYNAMISCHEN ELASTIZITAETSMODULS, INSBESONDERE FUER DIE FROSTBESTAENDIGKEITSPRUEFUNG DES BETONS

FROM A LARGE NUMBER OF EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS AVAILABLE TO THE AUTHOR, A RELATIONSHIP WAS FORMED BETWEEN DYNAMIC AND STATIC MODULI OF ELASTICITY LIMITED TO THE RANGE TESTED. FROM THESE IT WOULD NOW APPEAR THAT THE RATIONAL DYNAMIC TEST METHOD IS SUITABLE FOR TESTING THE FROST RESISTANCE. THE RANGE OF ELASTIC MODULI RESEARCHED EXTENDS TO ALL CONCRETES NORMALLY USED IN PRACTICE. THE RESEARCH INCLUDED CONCRETE MIXES OF DIFFERING STRENGTH GRADES WITH AND WITHOUT ARTIFICIAL AIR ENTRAINMENT FROM ADDITIVES OF DIFFERENT ORIGIN WITHIN AUSTRIA. IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE TO CONVERT DYNAMIC VALUES FOR ASSESSING FROST RESISTANCE INTO THE MORE EFFECTIVE STATIC MODULUS OF ELASTICITY. FROM THIS RESEARCH IT IS POSSIBLE TO ESTABLISH NEW LIMITS FOR FROST RESISTANCE OF CONCRETE USING THE DYNAMIC TEST METHOD.
