TWO PROBLEMS IN THE TREATMENT OF SOIL WITH INJECTIONS OF SILICEOUS GELS

DEUX PROBLEMES DANS LE TRAITEMENT DE SOLS AVEC INJECTIONS DE GEL DE SILICE

THE USE OF GRAVEL GELS FOR SOIL TREATMENT IS A GROWING TREND. IN THIS REPORT TWO CASES FROM PRACTICE ARE REPORTED. IN THE FIRST CASE THE INFLUENCE OF DIRTY WATERS IN THE SOIL BEFORE TREATMENT IS STUDIED. FOLLOWING THE TREATMENT OF COHESIONLESS SOIL IN THE EXCAVATION OF A TUNNEL, IT WAS NOTED THAT IN SOME ZONES THE INJECTED GEL HAD NOT BOUND. THIS FACT AROSE FROM THE UNFORESEEN PRESENCE OF DIRTY WATER IN THE SOIL. SEVERAL TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT TO DETERMINE THE OPTIMUM INJECTION MIXTURE FOR THESE SPECIAL CONDITIONS. IN A SECOND CASE, WHERE THE TREATMENT OF SOIL FOR ANOTHER TUNNEL WAS CARRIED OUT IN TWO SEPARATE PHASES, THE SECOND TWO YEARS AFTER THE FIRST, IT WAS POSSIBLE TO STUDY OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME THE EVOLUTION OF THE STRENGTH AND PERMEABILITY OF THE INJECTED SOIL. THE COVERING ABSTRACT FOR THE CONFERENCE IS IRRD NO 306088.
