LOADING OF PART OF THE SURFACE OF NORMAL CONCRETE. TESTS ON REINFORCED DISCS

THE SUPPORTING AND DEFORMATION BEHAVIOUR OF DISC-SHAPED SAMPLES OF NORMAL CONCRETE SUBJECTED TO PARTIAL AREA LOADING WERE EXAMINED. IN ALL TESTS THE LOADING AREA EXTENDED OVER THE WHOLE WIDTH OF THE SAMPLE. FORMULAE FOR RUPTURE STRESS WERE DERIVED FROM THE RESULTS OF THE TESTS. IN A SPECIAL SERIES OF TESTS THE SPLITTING TENSILE REINFORCEMENT WAS POSITIONED AT DIFFERENT LEVELS IN THE AREA AFFECTED BY THE LOAD, BUT THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN THE RUPTURE STRESSES OBTAINED.
