THE APPLICATION OF THE PROVISIONAL STANDARD COMPRISES PLANE AND CURVED WINDOWS, IN PARTICULAR WINDSCREENS. THE DESIGN METHOD ACCORDING TO THIS STANDARD SERVES TO DETERMINE THE OPTICAL DISTORTION CAUSED BY THE GLASS. WITH THE AID OF A PROJECTOR A GRID IS PROJECTED THROUGH THE GLASS TO BE TESTED ON TO A SCREEN. THE DISTORTION OF THE GRID PROJECTED THROUGH THE GLASS SERVES AS A MEASURE FOR THE OPTICAL DISTORTION. EQUIPMENT AND TESTING APPARATUS ARE DESCRIBED: PROJECTOR, GRID, HOLDING DEVICE FOR THE GLASS, PROJECTION SCREEN AND EVALUATION TEMPLATES. SAMPLES ARE PROVIDED IN FORM OF THE GLASS TO BE TESTED IN SIZES WHICH ARE AVAILABLE. THE ARRANGEMENT FOR TESTING IS SHOWN DIAGRAMMATICALLY.
