DRIVING MANOEUVRES RELEVANT TO ACCIDENTS

UNFALLRELEVANTE FAHRMANOEVER

IN EACH SECTION OF THE THESIS VARIOUS QUESTIONS ARE FORMULATED TO CLARIFY WHICH DRIVING MANOEUVRES ARE CARRIED OUT BY THE DRIVER IN THE COURSE OF AN ACCIDENT. DETAILED INVESTIGATIONS ARE THEN CARRIED OUT TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT. THE METHOD DESCRIBED, WHICH TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE ACTUAL COLLISION IN THREE PHASES, ENABLES A DIFFERENTIAL OR A SCHEMATIC DESCRIPTION TO BE MADE. A COMPARISON OF THE DRIVING MANOEUVRES USED IN PRESENT DAY TESTS AND THOSE PROPOSED, WITH THOSE FROM THE ACCIDENT RECORDS SHOWS AGREEMENT IN PRINCIPLE. HOWEVER ONE DRIVING MANOEUVRE ONLY WAS TESTED GENERALLY IN THE TEST METHODS USED. THE COMBINATION OF TEST METHODS OR SINGLE DRIVING MANOEUVRES INTO ONE TEST PROGRAMME SIMULATING THE ACCIDENT CONDITIONS IS AIMED AT. AN ADEQUATE SOLUTION IS OFFERED. BY RE-CONSTRUCTING THE CHARACTERISTIC SEQUENCE OF EVENTS OF AN ACCIDENT A GOOD ASSIMILATION OF TEST AND ACTUAL ACCIDENTS WOULD BE REALIZED. A FURTHER ADVANTAGE OF THESE TESTS LAY IN OBTAINING MEASURING DATA SUCH AS STEERING ANGLE, RATE OF CHANGE OF STEERING ANGLE, BRAKING POINT, ETC. WITH THE DEFINITE VALUES AND OPTIMISATION OF THIS DATA A CONSTRUCTIVE IMPROVEMENT OF ACTIVE VEHICLE ROAD SAFETY WOULD BE POSSIBLE.
