PSYCHOVEGETATIVE STRESS AND THE STRAIN ON THE CONCENTRATION OF DRIVERS ON SECTIONS OF MOTORWAY WITH AND WITHOUT SPEED LIMITS

PSYCHOVEGETATIVE BELASTUNG UND AUFMERKSAMKEITSSPANNUNG VON FAHRZEUGLENKERN AUF AUTOBAHNABSCHNITTEN MIT UND OHNE GESCHWINDIGKEITSBEGRENZUNG

TEST DRIVES WERE CARRIED OUT ON SECTIONS OF MOTORWAY WITH AND WITHOUT SPEED LIMITS IN ORDER TO INVESTIGATE THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE SPEED TRAVELLED AND THE STRAIN ON THE BLOOD CIRCULATION AND ON THE CONCENTRATION OF THE DRIVER. DURING THE DRIVES THE HEARTBEAT OF THE DRIVER WAS RECORDED AND HIS BEHAVIOUR OBSERVED AND ALSO RECORDED BY A CO-DRIVER. THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT THE STRESS ON THE CIRCULATION INCREASES CONSIDERABLY WHEN DRIVING AND CONTINUES TO RISE AS SPEEDS INCREASE. THE STRAIN ON THE CONCENTRATION AT LOW SPEEDS (100-120 KM/HOUR OR 65-75 MILES/HOUR) IN COMPARISON WITH HIGH SPEEDS (OVER 130 KM/HOUR OR 80 MILES/HOUR) CANNOT BE PROVEN TO DIFFER.
