ALCOHOL RELATED CHANGES IN PERFORMANCE. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PSYCHO-EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES FOR THE QUESTION OF DRIVING APTITUDE

ALKOHOLBEDINGTE LEISTUNGSAENDERUNGEN. BEDEUTUNG PSYCHOEXPERIMENTELLER UNTERSUCHUNGEN FUER DIE FRAGE DER FAHRTAUGLICHKEIT.

IN PSYCHO-EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES, PERFORMANCE CHANGES WERE MEASURED WITH THE AID OF COMPLEX STRUCTURED TEST ARRANGEMENTS. SIGNIFICANT CHANGES WERE OBSERVED UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL WITH CLEAR CORRELATION WITH THE LEVEL OF BLOOD ALCOHOL CONCENTRATION. IN A COMPARISON OF PERFORMANCES OF TWO GROUPS WITH DIFFERING BLOOD ALCOHOL CONCENTRATIONS, EQUALLY SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES RESULTED. THE EFFECT OF ALCOHOL CONCENTRATION ON THE DRIVING APTITUDE IS DISCUSSED AND A WARNING IS GIVEN AGAINST APPLYING WIDE GENERALISATIONS TO INDIVIDUAL CASES.
