THE LOADING CAPACITY OF A REINFORCED PLATE SECTION CAN ONLY BE DETERMINED IN THE TEST IF LOADING, LIMITING CONDITIONS AND ALL OTHER PARAMETERS ARE MADE REALISTIC. THIS IMPLIES LARGE-SCALE TESTS ON CONSTRUCTIONS WHICH ARE AS COMPLETE AS POSSIBLE, AND THEREFORE UNREALISTICALLY EXPENSIVE, ALSO THE CHANGING OF ONLY A FEW PARAMETERS. IN PART PROGRAMME 1 THE PRINCIPLES OF THE LOADING BEHAVIOUR OF REINFORCED STEEL PLATE SECTIONS HAVE TO BE SYSTEMATICALLY CLARIFIED. PART PROGRAMME 2 THUS FILLS IN THE GAP BETWEEN PART PROGRAMME 1 AND REALITY- A COMPROMISE BETWEEN THE TEST RESULTS DESIRED, AND THE EXPENSE: LARGE-SCALE TESTS WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON A 1 : 2 SCALE. THESE TESTS SHOULD PROVIDE REFERENCE VALUES FOR LATER OR SIMULTANEOUS THEORETICAL INVESTIGATIONS. THE REINFORCED PLATE SECTION IS PART OF A SUPPORT SYSTEM AND WORKS IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHER PARTS OF THE SUPPORT SYSTEM. THE LOADING IN THE PLATE SECTION SHOULD AS FAR AS POSSIBLE BE APPLIED REALISTICALLY. SELF-CONTAINED PARTS ARE AT PRESENT BEING DEALT WITH BY THE DFG AND WHERE NECESSARY BY THE AIF.
