BY MEANS OF AN IMPULSE LOADING INSTALLATION A ROAD STRUCTURE WAS SUBJECTED TO CONTINUOUS LOADING WHICH INCORPORATED THE ESSENTIAL FEATURES OF TRAFFIC LOADING. DATA WERE CONFIRMED OR DETERMINED ON EXTERNAL LOADING, DEFORMATIONS AT THE SURFACE,PRESSURE ON THE SUBSOIL, CHANGES IN COMPACTION AND TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS.THE NUMERICAL MATERIAL FROM THESE SERIES OF TESTS IS TO BE WORKED THROUGH BY MEANS OF THEORETICAL MODEL STUDIES, CHIEFLY BY MEANS OF THE MULTI-LAYER ELASTIC THEORY.THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT IS TO DETERMINE MORE ACCURATELY THE INTERNAL MAGNITUDES OF THE INTERPLAY BETWEEN THE EXTERNAL FORCES AND THE PHENOMEMON CAUSED BY THEM.AN ATTEMPT IS TO BE MADE TO DETERMINE THE CHARACTERISTIC DEFORMATION AND DURABILITY VALUES OF THE CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS USED WHICH ARE SO IMPORTANT FOR THE APPLICATION OF THEORETICAL DESIGN METHODS.THIS INCLUDES CALCULATING THE DEFORMATION MODULI OF THE INDIVIDUAL LAYERS AND THEIR CHANGES IN RELATION TO THE DURATION OF LOADING FROM THE MEASUREMENTS OF LOAD AND SETTLEMENT.WITH THESE VALUES THE CURRENT STRESS CONCENTRATION IS TO BE CALCULATED,AND ITS COURSE COMPARED WITH THE RECORDED CHANGE IN THE EXTERNAL CONDITION OF THE ROAD STRUCTURE.
