CHANGES IN THE MOISTURE CONTENT BELOW ROAD PAVEMENTS ARE ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CAUSES OF CHANGES IN THE SUPPORTING PROPERTIES OF THE ROAD.NEW METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION IN THE FORM OF THE HEAT INSULATING COURSE OR THE GRAVEL LAYER CAN RESULT IN EXTRA WATER IN THE SUBSOIL UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS,AS A RESULT OF FROST PERIODS. ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS OF MOISTURE CONTENT ARE TO BE CARRIED OUT ON EXISTING EXPERIMENTAL ROADS.THE PLAN OF WORK IS THAT MEASUREMENTS OF WATER CONTENT AND DENSITY WILL BE CARRIED OUT WITH RADIATION SOUNDING APPARATUS ON THE FOLLOWING EXPERIMENTAL ROADS: 1 - FOR FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT-CAMBERG (COLOGNE-FRANKFURT MOTORWAY),BOEBLINGEN (BIX),SELB 1 AND 11 (B15); 2 - FOR HEAT INSULATING COURSES - RIEDENER WALD (SERVICE AREA ON THE WUERZBURG-FULDA MOTORWAY),HOJ (B2), MONTABAUER (B49); 3-HILPOLTSTEIN (NUERNBERG-MUNICH MOTORWAY) SIMULTANEOUSLY MEASUREMENTS OF SETTLEMENT (BENKELMAN BEAM), DYNAMIC LOAD BEARING TESTS,STATIC LOAD BEARING TESTS AND MEASUREMENTS OF FROST HEAVE ARE TO BE CARRIED OUT.
