THE AIM OF THE RESEARCH IS TO OBTAIN INFORMATION ON BENDING STRESSES AND DEFORMATION IN VERTICAL PILES DUE TO LATERAL EARTH PRESSURE. IN THE PRESENT CASE, THE WORK IS BASED ON THE ASSUMPTION OF THE ELASTIC-ISOTROPIC HALF SPACE. THE PILES TO BE STUDIED ARE REINFORCED CONCRETE CYLINDRICAL PILES WITH DIFFERENT SUPPORT CONDITIONS (RESTRAINED, FREELY PIVOTED, MOVABLE, IMMOVABLE), WITH DIFFERENT SOIL HORIZONTAL RIGIDITY COEFFICIENTS EITHER CONSTANT WITH DEPTH OR INCREASING WITH DEPTH. THE DIAMETER AND LENGTH OF THE PILES AND THE SOIL LOADING DISTANCE WILL ALSO BE VARIED.
