THE AIM OF THE RESEARCH IS TO DETERMINE THE CRITERIA FOR THE OPTIMUM CHOICE OF THE LOCATION OF PARK-AND-RIDE INSTALLATIONS AND THE INFLUENCE OF SUCH INSTALLATIONS ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF TRAFFIC BETWEEN INDIVIDUAL AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT. THE RELATIONS BETWEEN LOCATION AND TRAFFIC DISTRIBUTION WILL BE DETERMINED. THE IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY LIES IN THE FACT THAT RESULTS ARE MADE AVAILABLE TO PLANNING AUTHORITIES AND CAN BE USED FOR PLANNING FUTURE PARK-AND-DRIVE INSTALLATIONS. IT IS INTENDED, BY QUESTIONNAIRES TO DETERMINE DATA ON TRAFFIC DENSITY AND ON ORIGIN-DESTINATION TRAFFIC; AREAS GENERATING THE LATTER ARE IN THE ZONE OF INFLUENCE OF EXISTING PARK-AND- RIDE INSTALLATIONS. THE INVESTIGATION WILL BE LARGELY LIMITED TO THE HAMBURG AREA, BECAUSE A NOTABLE NUMBER OF PARK-AND-RIDE INSTALLATIONS ARE ALREADY OPERATING IN THIS AREA.
