THE CROSSING OF A RAILWAY LINE AT TEMPERLEY

CRUCE BAJO NIVEL EN TEMPERLEY

THE PROBLEM OF CROSSING A RAILWAY LINE IN THE TOWN OF BUENOS AIRES WAS SOLVED WITHOUT IMPEDING RAILWAY TRAFFIC BY CONSTRUCTING AN UNDERPASS. THE RAILWAY BRIDGE HAS A PRESTRESSED CONCRETE SKEW BRIDGE DECK; THE PRESTRESSING WAS CARRIED OUT BY THE FREYSSINET METHOD. THE ABUTMENTS WERE BUILT FIRST, THEN CONCRETING TOOK PLACE PROGRESSIVELY TOWARDS THE CENTRE. THE 39 M-WIDE SLAB WAS DIVIDED INTO SMALL SLABS, 3,90 M WIDE, SEPARATED WITH SEALED JOINTS TO FACILITATE CONSTRUCTION. DATA ARE PRESENTED ON THE MIX DESIGN OF THE CONCRETE USED.
