METODO DE LOS DESPLAZAMIENTOS. CAPITULO 3

THIS DOCUMENT DEVELOPS THE METHOD OF DISPLACEMENTS BY MEANS OF A MATRIX FORMULATION, THUS MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO OBTAIN MORE EXACT RESULTS AS IT IS NO LONGER NECESSARY TO NEGLECT THE INFLUENCE OF THE AXIAL STRESSES IN THE DEFORMATIONS OF THE STRUCTURE. IT ALSO MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF COMPUTER METHODS. THE BASIC HYPOTHESES ACCORD FULLY WITH THOSE OF THE CONVENTIONAL DISPLACEMENT METHODS. TWO OTHER DIFFERENT FORMULATIONS OF THIS METHOD ARE EXAMINED: ONE PERMITS TO CALCULATE DIRECTLY THE STRESSES AT ONE OF THE EXTREMITIES OF THE BARS AND IS ENTITLED "FORMULATION BY THE USE OF THE CONNECTION MATRIX"; IT REQUIRES THE USE OF THE MATRIX C TO ENABLE THE TRANSPOSITION OF THE RIGIDITY MATRIX OF THE NON-ASSEMBLED BARS TO GLOBAL AXES. THE OTHER, ENTITLED "GENERAL FORMULATION" MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO CALCULATE THE INTERIOR STRESSES AT THE TWO EXTREMITIES OF THE BARS AND DOES NOT USE MATRIX C. EXAMPLES ARE GIVEN, WHICH ILLUSTRATE THE THEORY IN FULL.
