ASH IN SURFACINGS

LAS CENIZAS EN LOS PAVIMENTOS

THE RESULTS ARE PRESENTED OF TESTS CARRIED OUT WITH DIFFERENT MATERIALS (SAND AND LIME, SAND AND CEMENT, NATURAL MIXTURES OF SILT AND SAND WITH A SMALL QUANTITY OF GRAVEL AND CLAY) STABILIZED WITH POWER STATION FLY ASH. THE TESTS CARRIED OUT WERE AS FOLLOWS: LIQUID AND PLASTIC LIMITS, COMPACTION, CALIFORNIA BEARING RATIO AND SOME DEALING WITH THE PROPERTIES OF THE FLY ASH (PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION, DENSITY, MAXIMUM WATER CONTENT). IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT WITH THE ADDITION OF 30% TO 50% OF FLY ASH, ALL THE MATERIALS STUDIED CONFORMED TO THE COLOMBIAN SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD BASE MATERIALS. THE MIXTURES OF FLY ASH - LIME - SAND ARE USEFUL AS ROAD BASE MATERIAL. THE PRESENCE OF FINE COHESIVE MATERIALS DIMINISHES OR CANCELS THE EFFECT OF STABILIZATION OF THE ASH.
