ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO THE INFLUENCE OF GROUPS OF CAUSES OR CIRCUMSTANCES OF ACCIDENTS AND THE POSSIBILITY OF ACTING ON THOSE CAUSES. DATA ARE PRESENTED ON COLLISION BETWEEN VEHICLES, AND BETWEEN VEHICLES AND OBSTACLES OF DIFFERENT TYPES. PEDESTRIAN INJURIES AND FATALITIES ARE TABULATED AS A FUNCTION OF THE AGE OF THE VICTIMS, THEIR OFFENCES AGAINST THE HIGHWAY CODE AND THEIR PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS. CURVES SHOWING THE TENDENCIES AND INDICES OF PEDESTRIAN AND DRIVER FATALITIES ARE PLOTTED. THE NEGATIVE BINOMIAL LAW IS USED TO DETERMINE THE DISTRIBUTION OF ACCIDENT PROBABILITY. AN EXPONENTIAL LAW IS UTILIZED TO DETERMINE THE PROBABILITY OF TIME INTERVALS WITHOUT ACCIDENTS.
