SEVENTH ARGENTINIAN ROAD AND TRAFFIC CONGRESS. GROUP 6, REPORT NO 7: THE ROAD CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER AND COMMUNICATION

COMISION VI: DOCUMENTO N. 7: EL INGENIERO VIAL Y LAS COMUNICACIONES

THE AIM OF THE REPORT IS TO ADVISE TECHNICIANS IN THE FIELD OF ROAD ENGINEERING ON THE USE OF MODERN COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS, INCLUDING COMPUTERS. A BRIEF DESCRIPTION IS GIVEN OF THE EQUIPMENT WHICH SHOULD BE ADOPTED IN SOME CASES, OF THE TYPES OF EQUIPMENT WITH THE BEST OUTPUT FOR SHORT- AND LONG-DISTANCE COMMUNICATION, E.G., RAPID EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION BETWEEN THE OPERATIONAL BASE AND CONTROL CENTRES. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT THE TELEPRINTING MACHINE SHOULD BE EMPLOYED FOR FACILITATING THE TRANSMISSION OF COMMENTS, PLANS AND DATA OF INTEREST. THIS DEVICE (TELEX OR POINT-BY-POINT SYSTEM) FACILITATES THE RECORDING ON PUNCHED TAPE OR WRITTEN PAGE OF ALL DATA TRANSMITTED OR RECEIVED. IT IS RECOMMENDED TO INSTALL A COMPUTER AT THE OPERATIONAL CENTRE, THAT WILL RECEIVE AND PROCESS ALL DATA COMING FROM SITES. FOR THE COVERING ABSTRACT OF THE CONFERENCE SEE IRRD ABSTRACT NO 106370 AND 106375, 106491 TO 106501 FOR GROUP 5.
