ANALISIS DE ACCIDENTES CON VICTIMAS EN CARRETERA Y ZONA URBANA.

CASUALTY ACCIDENTS (DRIVERS AND PEDESTRIANS) IN URBAN AREAS FOR 1971 AND 72, ARE ANALYZED. FOR EACH URBAN AREA DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF CAUSES AND DETERMINING CIRCUMSTANCES: INFRACTIONS OF THE HIGHWAY CODE, PSYCHOPHYSICAL CONDITIONS, AND FACTORS INDEPENDENT OF THE DRIVER, SUCH AS THE STATE OF THE VEHICLE, WEATHER CONDITIONS, ROAD SURFACE, LIGHTING HIGHWAY PECULIARITIES, AND INFRACTIONS BY AND THE PSYCHOPHYSICAL STATE OF, THE PEDESTRIAN. ON THE OPEN ROAD AS WELL AS IN TOWN, A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF ACCIDENTS IS SHOWN TO BE DUE TO INFRACTIONS OF THE HIGHWAY CODE, THE INCIDENCE BEING TWO AND A HALF TIMES GREATER ON THE OPEN ROAD. THE MAIN CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS IN THE TOWN WAS THE IGNORING OF PRIORITIES. INSUFFICIENT LIGHTING WAS A FAR MORE IMPORTANT FACTOR IN TOWN THAN ON THE OPEN ROAD. REGARDING PEDESTRIANS, CROSSING THE ROAD WITHOUT DUE CARE AND ATTENTION WAS THE MAIN CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS. OTHER STATISTICS PRESENTED INCLUDE: ACCIDENTS AND CASUALTIES BY PROVINCE FOR JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 1974; AND FOR MAY 1974 ARE GIVEN TRANSFERS AND MODIFICATIONS TO VEHICLES, AND DRIVING LICENCES ISSUED AND SUSPENDED.
