ESTIMATION OF THE LIFE OF A TYRE

ESTIMACION DE LA VIDA DE LOS NEUMATICOS.

THIS ARTICLE DEALS WITH TYRES USED ON EXCAVATING MACHINES OF THE FOLLOWING TYPES: DUMPERS, MOTORIZED SCRAPERS, MOTORIZED GRADERS, ETC. THE TYRE CASINGS GENERALLY FAIL BECAUSE OF DAMAGE TO THE CARCASS OR BECAUSE OF ACCELERATED WEAR, WHICH IS MOST OFTEN CAUSED BY SHEAR AND BY GENERATION OF EXCESSIVE HEAT. THE FACTORS WHICH AFFECT INCREASES IN TYRE TEMPERATURE ARE ANALYSED: LOADING, INFLATED PRESSURE, SPEED, DISTANCE COVERED IN A WORKING CYCLE OF THE MACHINE, CONTINUITY OF OPERATION, AMBIENT TEMPERATURE, TYPE OF SOIL AND MAINTENANCE. THE INFLUENCE OF EACH OF THESE FACTORS IS STUDIED WITH THE AID OF CHARTS, WHICH FACILITATE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CORRECTIVE FACTORS FOR THE CALCULATION OF THE MEAN LIFE OF TYRES; THIS UNDER THE BEST CONDITIONS IS 5,000 HOURS. A CHART IS ALSO GIVEN FOR THE EVALUATION OF THE LIFE SPAN FOR LOADERS.
