THIS REPORT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN OFFICIAL RECOMMENDATION BUT COMPLETES CIE PUBLICATION NO 12.2-CIE (TC 4.6) 1977, ENTITLED "RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE LIGHTING OF ROADS USED BY MOTOR VEHICULAR TRAFFIC". IT MUST BE READ IN COMBINATION WITH THE DATA TO BE CONSIDERED IN THE FORECAST OF THE PERFORMANCE OF A LIGHTING INSTALLATION, AS DESCRIBED IN PUBLICATION CIE NO 30 (TC 4.6) 1976: "CALCULATION AND MEASUREMENT OF LUMINANCE AND ILLUMINATION IN PUBLIC LIGHTING". IT IS DIVIDED INTO 3 PARTS: (1) DESCRIPTION OF PREFERENTIAL METHODS OF PRESENTING BASIC PHOTOMETRIC DATA FOR ROAD LIGHTING LANTERNS: LUMINOUS INTENSITY TABLES; ISOCANDELA DIAGRAMS; POLAR DIAGRAMS; LIGHTING SURFACES. (2-2) DEFINITION, FOR AN INDIVIDUAL LANTERN, OF ADDITIONAL DERIVED VALUES WHICH CAN BE OF INTEREST; CLASSIFICATION OF THE LIGHTING LANTERN (IN TERMS OF LONGITUDINAL AND TRANSVERSE EXTENSIVENESS AND CONTROL OF GLARE); UTILIZATION FACTOR DIAGRAMS; LUMINANCE OUTPUT DIAGRAMS; ISOLUMINANCE DIAGRAMS. (3-3) DESCRIPTION OF 3 PRACTICAL METHODS OF PRESENTING DATA RELATING TO THE PERFORMANCE OBTAINED WITH A ROAD LIGHTING LANTERN SYSTEM IN A LIGHTING INSTALLATION: PERFORMANCE TABLES; PERFORMANCE GRAPHS; TABLES GIVING THE GEOMETRIC CHARACTERISTICS TO CONFORM TO IN LIGHTING INSTALLATIONS, WITH A VIEW TO OBTAINING A GIVEN PERFORMANCE.
