TYRES USED IN CIVIL ENGINEERING OPERATIONS HAVE EVOLVED IN SUCCESSIVE STAGES FROM ROAD TYRES AND AGRICULTURAL TYRES. EARTH MOVING OPERATIONS, QUARRY AND MINING OPERATIONS OVER THE LAST TWENTY YEARS LED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH-PERFORMANCE TYRES ABLE TO BE UTILIZED UNDER VERY VARIED CONDITIONS. BECAUSE OF THIS DIVERSITY OF USE, MANY ALTERNATIVE TYRE DESIGNS HAD TO BE CREATED TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE NUMEROUS MACHINES, THEIR FUNCTIONS AND THE MATERIALS TREATED. IT IS NOT EASY TO FORESEE THE FUTURE OF MACHINERY TYRES, BUT RAPID PROGRESS IN TYRE TECHNOLOGY PERMITS US TO ENVISAGE NUMEROUS NEW POSSIBILITIES. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A CLOSER COOPERATION BETWEEN USERS AND MANUFACTURERS BE ESTABLISHED.
