DESIGN CHARTS AND EXAMPLES ARE PRESENTED FOR STEEL PLATE DECK BRIDGES BASED ON THE DESIGN LOADING SPECIFIED IN STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR HIGHWAY BRIDGES IN JAPAN. IF THE SPAN LENGTHS, SPACES, AND CROSS SECTIONS OF HORIZONTAL RIBS AND FLOW BEAMS OF A STEEL PLATE DECK WITH OPEN- OR CLOSED-RIBS, WHICH IS SIMPLY SUPPORTED ON TWO MAIN GIRDERS, ARE GIVEN, MAXIMUM STRESSES IN THEIR MEMBERS CAN BE EASILY OBTAINED BY USING THE DESIGN CHARTS. /TRRL/
