APPLICATION OF THE MONTE CARLO METHOD TO THE DESIGN OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BRIDGES TAKING CONCRETE CREEP AND SHRINKAGE INTO ACCOUNT

THE RESULTS OF THE CALCULATIONS OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BRIDGES DEPEND ON NUMEROUS PARAMETERS SOME OF WHICH ARE RANDOM FACTORS: WEATHER AT THE BEGINNING OF CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS; MODULUS OF ELASTICITY OF THE CONCRETE; FINAL CREEP OF CONCRETE; RATE OF CREEP; FINAL SHRINKAGE AND RATE OF SHRINKAGE; TIME OF THE MANUFACTURE OF THE CROSS-SECTIONS; TIME OF STRESS APPLICATION; REAL PRESTRESSING FORCES. A SIMULATION PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED, WHICH SELECTS RANDOMLY A VALUE FOR EACH OF THESE RANDOM PARAMETERS AND CARRIES OUT DETERMINISTIC CALCULATIONS FROM THE VALUES SELECTED. THE AVERAGE VALUES AND STANDARD DEVIATIONS CAN BE DETERMINED FOR STRESSES, LONG-TERM DEFORMATIONS ETC.
