LE PONT DE L'EUROPE A AVIGNON, DEUXIEME LIGNE DE PONTS SUR LE RHONE

THIS ARTICLE COMPLETES THE FIRST ARTICLE WHICH APPEARS IN NO 6, JUNE 1975 OF THIS JOURNAL. THE FIRST PART OUTLINES THE BASIC HYPOTHESES AND METHODS OF ANALYSIS OF THE STRUCTURE. THE ABUTMENT PILES WERE ASSUMED TO BE FIXED IN AN ELASTIC MEDIUM. PIERS WERE DESIGNED TO RESIST SCOUR TO A DEPTH OF 10 M SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH AN IMPACT FROM A SHIP (IN ADDITION TO THE REACTIONS TRANSMITTED BY THE DECK). THE LONGITUDINAL BENDING HAS BEEN STUDIED FOR DIFFERENT CRITICAL CONSTRUCTION PHASES. DETAILED STUDIES HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT OF PRESSURES AND THE DISTRIBUTION OF PRESTRESSING IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD OF THE ANCHORAGES. THE SECOND PART CONTAINS DATA ON THE STRESSES AND STRAINS IN TABULAR FORM. THE FINAL PART LISTS THE QUANTITIES INVOLVED IN THE STRUCTURES.
