TEMPERATURE AND DEFORMATION MEASUREMENTS IN A CANTILEVER BRIDGE /IN FRENCH/

MEASUREMENTS OF STRAIN, TEMPERATURE AND VERTICAL DEFLECTION WERE CARRIED OUT FOR SIX MONTHS AFTER THE CONSTRUCTION OF A THREE SPAN, PRESTRESSD CONCRETE, CANTILEVER BRIDGE. STRAINS RESULTING FROM CREEP AND SHRINKAGE OF THE CONCRETE WERE SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN THE DESIGN VALUES. THE MEASUREMENTS WERE FOUND TO BE PARTICULARLY SENSITIVE TO NON-UNIFORM VARIATIONS IN TEMPERATURE OVER THE CROSS SECTION. DETAILS OF THE SPECIAL INSTRUMENTATION ARE GIVEN. /TRRL/A/
