THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMPUTER-AIDED DRIVING SIMULATOR USED FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF ROAD GEOMETRIC DESIGN
A DESCRIPTION IS PRESENTED OF A DRIVING SIMULATOR DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THE GEOMETRIC DESIGN OF ROADS. THE SIMULATOR GIVES PERSPECTIVE VIEW OBTAINED WITH DIFFERENT DESIGNS OF ROADS WHICH VARY ACCORDING TO THE DRIVER'S BEHAVIOR, E.G. ADJUSTMENT OF SPEED, BRAKE APPLICATION, MOVEMENT OF STEERING WHEEL. THE DESIGN OF THE SIMULATOR IS TO BE MODIFIED TO FACILITATE THE MEASUREMENT OF THE DRIVER'S PHYSIOLOGICAL REACTIONS, SUCH AS PULSE RATE, RESPIRATION CHARACTERISTICS ETC, IN ADDITION TO THOSE MEASUREMENTS ALREADY OBTAINED. /TRRL/
