REPEATED MEDICAL TESTS AT INTERVALS OF FIVE YEARS ARE OBLIGATORY IN AUSTRIA ONLY FOR ONE-EYED DRIVERS AND FOR DRIVERS IN GROUPS D AND H. DRIVERS IN ALL OTHER GROUPS, IN PARTICULAR CAR DRIVERS, MAY RETAIN THEIR DRIVING LICENCES INDEFINITELY, AS THE WITHDRAWAL OF THE LICENCE BECAUSE OF LOSS OF DRIVING APTITUDE AS PROVIDED FOR IN THE DRIVING LEGISLATION IS NOT IN FACT PRACTISED. VARIOUS POSSIBILITIES FOR A CONCRETE SOLUTION FOR THE RESULTING PROBLEMS ARE DISCUSSED.
