ALCOHOLISM AND DRIVING APTITUDE

ALKOHOLISMUS UND FAHRTAUGLICHKEIT

THE FORMS OF ACUTE ALCOHOL PSYCHOSES ARE DESCRIBED: ABNORMAL ALCOHOL REACTIONS, SENSORY DELUSIONS DUE TO DRUNKENNESS AND ALCOHOLIC EPILEPSY. THE AUTHORS DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN THE DRINKING TYPE DELTA (ADJUSTED, DISTRIBUTION OF DRINK INTAKE OVER THE ENTIRE DAY, BODILY ALCOHOL DAMAGE, NO MAJOR PERSONALITY DEFECTS), AND THE GAMMA TYPE (SOCIALLY OSTENTATIOUS, FREQUENT SUDDEN LOSSES OF CONTROL, INTERVALS BETWEEN DRINKING, PERSONALITY DISTURBANCES). AS FAR AS THE EFFECT ON ROAD TRAFFIC IS CONCERNED, THERE IS NO DEFINITE BASIS FOR DETERMINING THE DEGREE TO WHICH ALCOHOLISM PARTICIPATES IN THE CAUSES OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS.
