THE STUDY OF THE ATTITUDE - BEHAVIOUR RELATION UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL, WITH THE AID OF THE M FISHBEIN MODEL

UNTERSUCHUNG EINER EINSTELLUNGS-VERHALTENSBEZIEHUNG UNTER ALKOHOLEINFLUSS MIT DEM MODELL VON M. FISHBEIN

THE AIM WAS TO DETERMINE WHETHER IT IS POSSIBLE TO FORECAST BEHAVIOUR FROM AN OPERATIONALLY DEFINED UNDERSTANDING OF ATTITUDE. THIS STUDY COVERED THE ATTITUDE - BEHAVIOUR RELATIONSHIP FOR CAR DRIVERS UNDER SLIGHT ALCOHOL INFLUENCE AND IN A SOBER STATE. HYPOTHESES: (1) DIFFERENCES EXIST BETWEEN INDIVIDUALS IN THE BEHAVIOURAL MOTIVES UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND WHEN SOBER; (2) DEFINITE BEHAVIOURAL MOTIVES RELATE TO PARTICULAR BEHAVIOUR, I.E. THERE ARE INTER-INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES. DEPENDING ON GROUPS AND CONDITIONS, THERE ARE DEFINITE COMBINATIONS OF COMPONENTS OF THE FISHBEIN MODEL. METHOD: TWO GROUPS RECEIVE AT INTERVALS OF ONE WEEK, A QUESTIONNAIRE MADE OUT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FISHBEIN MODEL. THE FIRST GROUP OF SUBJECTS CLAIM THAT THEY DO NOT DRIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL, WHILE THE SECOND GROUP DO SO MORE OR LESS FREQUENTLY. A TOTAL OF 96 SUBJECTS ANSWERED THE QUESTIONNAIRES, ONCE IN A SOBER CONDITION AND ONCE FOLLOWING THE CONSUMPTION OF 0.49 G/KG ALCOHOL (WHITE WINE). THE RESULTS CORRESPOND WITH THE HYPOTHESES. THE MOST IMPORTANT RESULT IS THE PREDICTION OF THE BEHAVIOURAL MOTIVES, WHICH VARY BETWEEN R = 0.548 AND PARTICULARLY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE STUDY, THE FORECAST OF THE BEHAVIOUR UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OF R = 0.678 AND IN SOBER CONDITION OF R = 0.536. THE FISHBEIN MODEL IS SHOWN TO BE SATISFACTORY. FURTHERMORE, THE PROBLEM OF THE CLASSIFICATION OF THE BEHAVIOUR AND ITS DEPENDENCE ON OTHER FACTORS SUCH AS ATTITUDES, SITUATIONS, TRANSPOSITION OF ATTITUDES IN BEHAVIOUR ETC AND THEIR MUTUAL INTERACTION LEAVES A LARGE NUMBER OF UNANSWERED QUESTIONS.
