SIMULATION OF WAITING TIME ON A BUS ROUTE

ETUDE DES PHENOMENES D'ATTENTE SUR UNE LIGNE D'AUTOBUS PAR SIMULATION

THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS REPORT IS TO STUDY THE INFLUENCE OF VARIOUS RANDOM PHENOMENA ON THE RATE OF OCCUPANCY OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT VEHICLES. THE RANDOM FACTORS TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT ARE: ARRIVAL OF PASSENGERS AT STATION; ALIGHTING OF PASSENGERS AT VARIOUS STATIONS; POSSIBLE DELAY GAINED BY BUSES DURING THEIR JOURNEY. THE PROBLEMS ARISING FROM SIMULATION ARE OUTLINED TOGETHER WITH THE SIMULATION PROCESS ITSELF. RESULTS OBTAINED WITH THE SIMULATED APPROACH ARE DESCRIBED. THE OBJECTIVE IS TO DEVELOP A SIMULATION PROCESS AS GENERAL AS POSSIBLE SO AS TO BE APPLICABLE TO ANY BUS ROUTE.
