THE OPERATIONAL METHODS USED AT THE PRESENT TIME WITHIN THE SCOPE OF OPERATION A6-B6-C6 HAVE THE OBJECTIVE OF IMPROVING TRAFFIC FLOW AND SAFETY AS WELL AS THE USE OF THE NETWORK AS A WHOLE. THESE METHODS ARE PRINCIPALLY: AUTOMATIC DETECTION OF INCIDENTS - ROAD NETWORK MONITORING BY TELEVISION - INFORMATION ON USERS BY MEANS OF VARIABLE SIGNS. THIS ARTICLE DEVELOPS PARTICULARLY THE TECHNICAL ASPECT OF THE INSTALLATION OF CONTROL EQUIPMENT (MONITORING, TRANSMISSION) AND WIDENS THE PERSPECTIVES FOR A FUTURE IMPLEMENTATION OF A GLOBAL POLICY FOR CONTROL OF ACCESS TO ALL PARTS OF THE ROAD NETWORK HAVING CONGESTED TRAFFIC.
