CONSTRUCTION OF AKI BRIDGE

A TABLE SHOWING THE SIX TYPES OF BRIDGES IS PRESENTED. THE REASONS FOR SELECTING AN ARCH TYPE WITH OBLIQUELY ARRANGED HANGER (NIELSEN TYPE ROHSE GIRDER) ARE: EXACT STRESS TO THE MEMBERS CAN BE INTRODUCED SINCE THE ORDER OF REDUNDANCY IS HIGH (27TH INDETERMINATE) AND LOW TOWERS ARE SUFFICIENT FOR ERECTION. IN ORDER TO DETECT TENSION INTRODUCED IN THE CABLE (HANGER), TENSION WAS CALCULATED FROM THE FREQUENCY OF THE OSCILLATION USING A PREPARED CALIBRATION CURVE SHOWING THE RELATION BETWEEN FREQUENCY AND TENSION. STATIC AND DYNAMIC LOAD TESTS USING TRUCK AND VIBRATION TESTS WITH VIBRATION GENERATOR WERE PERFORMED AFTER COMPLETION OF THE AKI BRIDGE. THE TEST RESULTS CONFIRMED THE ACCURACY OF THEORETICAL CALCULATION ON THE DESIGN OF THE BRIDGE.
