NOISE AROUND ROAD JUNCTIONS, THE RESULTS OF A SIMULATION PROGRAMME

BRUIT AUX ABORDS DES CARREFOURS ROUTIERS, RESULTATS D'UN PROGRAMME DE SIMULATION

A NUMERICAL SIMULATION MODEL IS PRESENTED FOR THE ACOUSTIC BEHAVIOUR OF MOTOR VEHICLE TRAFFIC IN THE VICINITY OF A TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM. THE OUTPUT DATA OBTAINED FROM THE CALCULATION PROGRAM CONSIST OF ACOUSTIC TRAFFIC CHARACTERISTICS AT VARIOUS POINTS LOCATED ALONG THE ROADS. THESE PROVIDE A GOOD APPROXIMATION OF THE ACOUSTIC PATTERNS MEASURED AT ACTUAL SITES WITH ANALOGOUS CONDITIONS. THE MODEL LEADS TO A BETTER COMPREHENSION OF THE PHENOMENA OBSERVED AND TO THE DEDUCTION OF LAWS GOVERNING THE VARIATION IN DIVERSE ACOUSTIC INDICES OBTAINED AS A FUNCTION OF PARAMETERS SUCH AS TRAFFIC FLOW, MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT, PROPORTION OF HEAVY VEHICLES, CYCLE AND SYNCHRONISATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS.
