THIS STANDARD WHICH WAS INCORPORATED ON 29/8/1978 TO TAKE EFFECT ON 1/10/1978 HAS THE OBJECTIVE OF DEFINING THE TEST METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE SENSITIVYT TO FROST OF AN AGGREGATE SAMPLE. IT APPLIES TO AGGREGATES OF NATURAL OR ARTIFICIAL ORIGIN USED IN THE FIELD OF BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION. THE TESTS CONSIST IN MEASURING TWO LOS ANGELES COEFFICIENTS CONFORMING TO THE STANDARD NF P 18-573, ONE ON THE UNDISTURBED MATERIAL, THE OTHER ON THE MATERIAL BEING SUBJECTED, AFTER BEING SATURATED, TO 25 CYCLES OF FREEZING AND THAWING. THE STANDARD DESCRIBES THE APPARATUS, THE PREPARATION OF THE MATERIALS AND THE CARRYING OUT OF THE FREEZE-THAW CYCLES, AS WELL AS THE EXECUTION OF THE TESTS. THIS STANDARD CANCELS AND REPLACES LCPC TEST METHOD: FREEZE TEST ON AGGREGATES (SEE IRRD ABSTRACT NO 103816).
