TESTS ON A PRESTRESSED MICROCONCRETE MODEL OF A THREE CELL BOX BEAM BRIDGE
THE BUILDING AND TESTING OF A ONE-SIXTEENTH SCALE MICROCONCRETE MODEL OF A TYPICAL INTERIOR SPAN OF A PROPOSED SIX LANE VIADUCT IS DESCRIBED. THE CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURE TO BE USED IN THE FULL SCALE STRUCTURE WAS DUPLICATED IN THAT PRECAST SEGMENTS OF THE SUPERSTRUCTURE WERE TRANSVERSELY STRESSED, JOINTED TOGETHER WITH MORTAR AND THE RESULTING STRUCTURE PARTIALLY STRESSED LONGITUDINALLY BEFORE BEING PLACED ON ITS BEARINGS. DATA WERE OBTAINED ON THE DIFFUSION OF PRESTRESS THROUGH THE SECTION AND ON THE BEHAVIOR OF THE STRUCTURE UNDER ITS DESIGN LOADING AND AT FAILURE. TYPICAL RESULTS ARE PRESENTED AND COMPARISONS MADE BETWEEN OBSERVED AND CALCULATED STRESSES. /ACI/
