WEATHER RESISTANCE INDICES IN ACCELERATED TESTS

INDICES DE RESISTANCE AUX INTEMPERIES EN TESTS ACCELERES

THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE MEASUREMENT METHODS GIVING RELATIVE VALUES WHICH CAN BE CONVERTED IN ENERGY VALUE BY MEANS OF STANDARD CALIBRATION. THESE METHODS ARE GROUPED UNDER THE HEADING "ACTINOMETRY". LIGHT MONITORS ABLE TO RECORD THE ULTRA-VIOLET PART OF RADIATION IN CONJUNCTION WITH A WEATHER-O-METER-TYPE DEVICE ENABLE REPRODUCIBLE RESULTS TO BE OBTAINED. THE LARGE NUMBER OF ACCUMULATED DATA REQUIRE THE USE OF A COMPUTER. THE DATA ARE DIRECTLY TRANSMITTED TO A TELESCRIPTOR. A RELATION IS ESTABLISHED BETWEEN CHANGES IN THE COLOUR OF SAMPLES AND THE IRRADIATION RECEIVED. THIS RELATION FACILITATES THE COMPARISON OF WEATHER RESISTANCE OBTAINED FROM VERY DIFFERENT SERIES OF TESTS. CLEAR-CUT RESULTS WERE OBTAINED WITH RIGID PVC SAMPLES.
