STUDY OF THE VARIATION IN THE LONGITUDINAL VELOCITY OF ULTRASONIC WAVES IN A STANDARDIZED CONCRETE SAMPLE SUBJECTED TO INCREASING LOADS
ETUDE DE LA VARIATION DE VITESSE LONGITUDINALE VL DES ULTRASONS DANS UNE EPROUVETTE NORMALISEE DE BETON SOUMISE A DES CHARGES CROISSANTES
THE STUDY OF THE VARIATION IN THE LONGITUDINAL VELOCITY OF ULTRASONIC WAVES IN SAMPLES SUBJECTED TO PROGRESSIVE LOADING SHOWED THAT (1) THIS VELOCITY IS CONSTANT FOR A SMALL RANGE OF LOADS BETWEEN 0 AND 15 BARS; (2) THE VELOCITY VARIES IN GRADUATED STEPS FOR AN INCREASING LOAD REACHING APPROXIMATELY 45% OF THE ULTIMATE LOAD; (3) THE VELOCITY VARIES CONTINUOUSLY WITH THE LOAD BECAUSE OF THE DISORDERS DUE TO CRACKING WITHIN THE CONCRETE STRUCTURE; (4) ABOVE APPROXIMATELY 80% OF THE ULTIMATE LOAD THE PHENOMENON INCREASES UP TO FAILURE OF THE SAMPLE.
