CONCRETE CONTAINING MATERIALS STABILIZED WITH SLAG IN AN ALKALINE ENVIRONMENT FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION

THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES THE STATE OF THE ART OF METHODS OF USING CONCRETE CONTAINING SANDY OR SILTY MATERIALS STABILIZED WITH VARIOUS GRANULATED SLAGS (NOT ONLY BLAST FURNACE SLAG) AND ALKALINE MATERIALS (SODIUM, POTASSIUM, SODIUM SILICATE). THE CONCRETE OBTAINED HAS A FINAL SIMPLE TENSILE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH BETWEEN 40 AND 100 MEGAPASCALS, A TENSILE STRENGTH BETWEEN THE FIFTH AND THE TENTH OF THE COMPRESSIVE ONE, AND A RESISTANCE TO FROST EXCEEDING 300 FREEZING-THAWING CYCLES. THE PRICE OF THIS TYPE OF CONCRETE CAN BE 40% LOWER THAN THAT OF CONVENTIONAL CONCRETE.
