IN COMPOSITE STRUCTURES DESIGNED AS CONTINUOUS GIRDERS, PROBLEMS OCCUR IN THE AREA OF NEGATIVE MOMENT STRESS WITH CONTROLLING THE TENSILE STRESSES IN THE CONCRETE AND LIMITING THE WIDTHS OF THE CRACKS IN THE CONCRETE SLAB. SO FAR NO MEASUREMENTS ON ACTUAL STRUCTURES HAVE CONFIRMED ASSUMPTIONS MADE ABOUT STRESS CONDITIONS IN THE STRUCTURE. THE OBJECT IS TO OBTAIN INFORMATION ON THE ACTUAL BEHAVIOUR OF STRUCTURES BY UNDERTAKING STATIC LONG TERM MEASUREMENTS AND DYNAMIC MEASUREMENTS ON A STRUCTURE WHICH IS BEING BUILT, AND TO COMPARE THIS BEHAVIOUR WITH THE THEORY.
