THE OBJECT OF THE RESEARCH IS TO WORK OUT A DESIGN FOR STRUTS ON PRECAST CONCRETE SUPPORTS, WITH REFERENCE TO EARLIER WORK REPORTED IN IRRD RESEARCH PROJECT 700847. THE FOLLOWING WILL BE UNDERTAKEN: FATIGUE TESTS TO CLARIFY HOW MUCH REDUCTION IN THE FRACTURE LOAD CAN BE UNDERTAKEN GIVEN CENTRIC LOADING OF THE SUPPORTS; DETERMINATION OF THE EFFECT OF ECCENTRIC LOADING ON THE SUPPORT BEHAVIOUR AND ON THE FRACTURE LOAD (SHORT TERM AND FATIGUE TESTS); TESTS TO DETERMINE THE EFFECT OF BAD POSITIONING OF THE FACE REINFORCEMENT; DETERMINATION OF THE EFFECT OF ECCENTRICITY OF THE LONGITUDINAL BARS OF THE SUPPORTS, AND OF THE POINT RESISTANCE OF THE LONGITUDINAL BARS, AND TESTS TO DETERMINE THE EFFECT OF A RIGID SURFACE DISC.
