COLLECTION AND EVALUATION OF FOREIGN MEASURES FOR INCREASING ROAD SAFETY IN TOWN CENTRES

SAMMLUNG UND BEWERTUNG AUSLAENDISCHER MASSNAHMEN ZUR ERHOEHUNG DER INNEROERTLICHEN VERKEHRSSICHERHEIT

THE FREQUENCY AND SEVERITY OF ROAD ACCIDENTS IN TOWNS DEMAND MEASURES FOR THEIR PREVENTION. IN GERMANY THERE ARE GAPS IN THE INFORMATION ON MEASURES TAKEN IN OTHER COUNTRIES. IT IS ASSUMED THAT SUCCESSFUL OR PLANNED SAFETY MEASURES ADOPTED IN WEST EUROPEAN INDUSTRIAL NATIONS COULD POSSIBLY BE APPLIED IN GERMANY. THE INTENTION IS TO COLLECT AND EVALUATE THESE MEASURES. POSSIBLE ADOPTION OF THE MEASURES IS BEING EXAMINED WITH REFERENCE TO POSSIBLE LEGAL, MATERIAL, TRAFFIC AND PSYCHOLOGICAL RESTRICTIONS. THOSE MEASURES EVALUATED AS POSITIVE ARE TO BE PROPOSED FOR POSSIBLE APPLICATION TO GERMAN CONDITIONS.
