POSSIBILITY OF APPLYING THE GRAVITATIONAL MODEL TO THE TRANSPORTATION PROBLEMS IN SANTIAGO

APLICABILIDAD DEL MODELO GRAVITACIONAL DEL PROBLEMA DEL TRANSPORTE EN SANTIAGO

THE MAIN OBJECT OF THE STUDY IS TO EXPLAIN THE JOURNEYS WITHIN THE CITY OF SANTIAGO BY MEANS OF A GRAVITATIONAL MODEL. THIS MODEL OF PRESENT DAY CONDITIONS COULD ALLOW ALSO THE STUDY OF PAST AND FUTURE SITUATIONS. ON THE OTHER HAND, IT IS PROPOSED TO ISOLATE GRAVITATIONAL PARAMETERS. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT IT IS ESSENTIAL TO INVESTIGATE TO WHAT EXTENT JOURNEYS INSIDE SANTIAGO CAN BE EXPLAINED IN A GRAVITATIONAL FASHION. THE RESULT OF THIS THESIS HAS AN IMMEDIATE EFFECT ON PASSENGER TRANSPORT PROBLEMS IN THE CITY. MOVEMENTS OF PEOPLE APPLIED TO THE TRANSPORT NETWORK GIVE THE TRANSPORT DEMAND. THIS STUDY IS DEVOTED TO THE ANALYSIS OF PARAMETERS AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE GRAVITATIONAL MODEL WITH RESPECT TO THE CHARACTERISTICS OF SANTIAGO CITY.
