WHEN A REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURE IS DAMAGED BY FIRE, THE DAMAGE VARIES ACCORDING TO THE DURATION OF THE FIRE AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE REACHED. THIS ARTICLE OUTLINES A NON-DESTRUCTIVE METHOD OF CALCULATING THE AVERAGE DEPTH OF THE CALCINED PART OF THE CONCRETE BASED ON THE TIME ULTRASONIC BEAMS TAKE TO GO THROUGH THE DAMAGED PARTS. GUIDELINES ARE APPENDED FOR SETTING UP AN ELECTRONIC CALCULATION PROGRAM FOR PROCESSING THE LARGE NUMBER OF DATA OBTAINED IN A REAL AVERAGE FIRE.
