STORAGE AND HANDLING OF LIQUEFIED GASES IN SHIPS

Trends in liquefied gas ships are reviewed and major factors affecting their design are reviewed. Some of the less obvious factors affecting the safe transportation of various liquefied gases are explained. The influence of port storage and handling facilities on ship design are examined. Possible future designs for storage tanks are mentioned. The shipyard and shipowners responsibility in adequate instruction and training are discussed in the light of current lack of comprehensive codes and regulations.
