MICROMECANISME DE DEFORMATION PLASTIQUE D'UN SOLIDE MINERAL CRISTALLISE

A STUDY WAS CONDUCTED WITH DIFFERENT ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES WITH A VIEW TO RELATING THE RHEOLOGICAL BEHAVIOUR OF AN ISOTROPIC CRYSTALLINE LIMESTONE SUBJECTED TO DIFFERENT TYPES OF MECHANICAL STRESSES WITH THE VARIOUS DEFORMATION MICROMECHANISMS OF CALCITE CRYSTAL AGGREGATES. RESULTS SHOW THE IMPORTANCE OF THE LOADING TRAJECTORY ON THE BEHAVIOUR OF THE ROCK BEYOND THE ELASTIC LIMIT. THE DEFORMATION RESULTS FROM DIFFERENT SUCCESSIVE OR SIMULTANEOUS MECHANISMS: TWINNING, INTERGRANULAR MOVEMENTS, MICROCRACKING, INTERCRYSTALLINE SLIDING, TORSION OF CRYSTALS AND MACROCRACKING.
