CHARACTERIZATION OF BITUMINOUS MATERIALS BY PERMEABLE GEL CHROMATOGRAPHY

CARACTERISATION DE PRODUITS BITUMINEUX PAR CHROMATOGRAPHIE SUR GEL PERMEABLE

THE AUTHOR USED PERMEABLE GEL CHROMATOGRAPHY TO CHARACTERIZE THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE MOLECULAR DIMENSIONS OF BITUMENS AND ASPHALTENES. CHANGES IN PENETRATION OR IN MANUFACTURING PROCESSES RESULT IN MODIFICATIONS OF THE CHROMATOGRAPH. FOR ASPHALTENES, IT WAS ESTABLISHED THAT THE METHOD (1) FACILITATES THE DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN SAMPLES OF DIFFERENT ORIGINS OR HAVING BEEN SUBJECTED TO DIFFERENT TREATMENTS, AND (2) SHOWS DIFFERENCES IN THE NATURE OF MICELLAR INTERACTIONS BY COMPARING CHROMATOGRAPHS AT SEVERAL CONCENTRATIONS. LASTLY, THE USE OF AN ULTRA-VIOLET SENSOR ENABLES THE POLYCONDENSED CHARACTER OF AROMATIC STRUCTURES TO BE STUDIED. FOR THE COVERING ABSTRACT OF THE WHOLE NUMBER, SEE IRRD ABSTRACT NO 107043.
