EFFECTS OF THERMAL GRADIENTS

EFFETS DES GRADIENTS THERMIQUES

THE OBJECT OF THIS RESEARCH IS FIRSTLY TO STUDY THE EFFECTS OF THERMAL GRADIENTS ON GROOVED BRIDGES. THESE EFFECTS RESULT IN VARIATIONS IN BEARING PRESSURES AND ARE STUDIED BY WEIGHING THESE BEARING PRESSURES AND BY RECORDING TEMPERATURES IN A BRIDGE SECTION IN SERVICE. IN 1979 IT IS ENVISAGED: TO START AGAIN WEIGHING OPERATIONS ON THE STRUCTURES IN GREZ-NEUVILLE AND MONTLUCON-SUR-CHER, FOR DIFFERENT THERMAL CONDITIONS; TO STUDY OTHER STRUCTURES; TO SUMMARIZE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS RELATING TO THERMAL GRADIENTS (MAGNITUDE, INDUCED DEFORMATIONS, COEFFICIENT OF EXPANSION).
