IMPROVEMENT IN TRAFFIC SIGNS AND SIGNALS

AMELIORATION DE LA SIGNALISATION VERTICALE

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE RESEARCH IS TO IMPROVE EXISTING TRAFFIC SIGNS AND SIGNALS (SIGNS, TRAFFIC LIGHTS, FLASHING SIGNALS) BY DEFINING THEIR PHOTOMETRIC CHARACTERISTICS. IN 1978 THE STUDY OF VARIOUS TYPES OF OVERHEAD TRAFFIC SIGN AND THAT OF PHOTOMETRIC AND COLORIMETRIC PROPERTIES OF NEW THREE-COLOURED SIGNALS WAS COMPLETED. FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SPECIFICATIONS GOVERNING THE OFFICIAL APPROVAL OF THREE-COLOURED SIGNALS, A STUDY WILL BE CONDUCTED IN 1979 OF THE VARIOUS PROCESSES OF ELIMINATING PHANTOM SIGNALS. FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS WILL BE CONTINUED ON NEW TYPES OF TRAFFIC SIGNS. BASES FOR OFFICIAL APPROVAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CAISSON TRAFFIC SIGNS AND FLASHING SIGNALS WILL BE SET UP. LASTLY, A STUDY WILL BE MADE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF IMPROVING THE VISIBILITY OF NIGHT SIGNS AND SIGNALS WITH ULTRA-VIOLET LIGHT.
