TO STUDY AND DEVELOP METHODS OF COMPUTERIZED CALCULATION FOR SOIL MASSES, ROCK MASSES AND STRUCTURES, AND IN PARTICULAR: (1) NON-LINEAR BEHAVIOUR (MASSES AND CONTACT AREAS); (2) LARGE-SCALE DISTURBANCES WITH APPLICATION TO THE STUDY OF SOIL AND TALL STRUCTURES (CABLES, THIN SHELLS); (3) EFFECTS OF WATER, ESPECIALLY FREE SURFACE FLOWS AND RELATION BETWEEN DIFFUSION AND DEFORMATION (CONSOLIDATION); (4) DEVELOPMENT OF METHODS OTHER THAN THAT OF FINITE ELEMENTS, IN PARTICULAR CONTOUR FACTORS FROM INTEGRAL EQUATIONS. APPLICATIONS ARE PROPOSED IN THE STUDY OF REINFORCED MASSES AND THE EFFECT OF ANISOTROPY ON ROCK MASS STABILITY. THIS RESEARCH CONCERNS THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE GENERAL CALCULATION SYSTEM ROSALIE STARTED IN 1968, WHICH BEGINS TO BE WIDELY USED IN OTHER SECTORS OF RESEARCH, ESPECIALLY RESEARCH ON SOIL AND ENGINEERING STRUCTURES.
