STUDY OF SANITATION NETWORKS

ETUDE DE RESEAUX D'ASSAINISSEMENT

TO ACQUIRE A WIDER KNOWLEDGE OF SANITATION NETWORKS AND STRUCTURES AND TO STUDY THEIR OPERATION AS SEPARATE OR WHOLE UNITS IT IS NECESSARY: (1) TO INVESTIGATE THEIR HYDRAULIC OPERATION AND TO DETERMINE POSSIBLE ABNORMALITIES, (2) TO STUDY DISTURBANCES IN SEWAGE PURIFICATION PLANTS SITUATED DOWNSTREAM. BECAUSE OF INCREASING URBAN DEVELOPMENT, IT IS ENVISAGED TO CONDUCT A SPECIAL STUDY OF THE INFLUENCE OF WATERPROOFING ON DESIGN METHODS AND THE HYDRAULIC BEHAVIOUR OF SANITATION NETWORKS. IN 1976 IT IS PLANNED: (1) TO STUDY THE OVERFLOW IN THE NETWORKS; IDENTIFICATION, LOCALISATION, ELIMINATION, (2) TO STUDY CATCHMENT AREAS: USE OF MEASUREMENTS AND RECORDINGS MADE OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS IN 3 CATCHMENT AREAS, (3) TO STUDY MEASURING AND RECORDING APPARATUS: CONTINUATION OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A FILE, (4) TO STUDY VELOCITY AND FLOW IN PIPES AND COLLECTORS: COMPARISON OF METHODS OF MEASUREMENT BY CHEMICAL AND RADIOACTIVE TRACERS, (5) TO STUDY STORM SPILLWAYS: THEIR OPERATION BASED ON SIMULTANEOUS MEASUREMENTS OF FLOW IN THE NETWORK AND IN THE STORM SPILLWAY, (6) TO CONDUCT ECONOMIC STUDIES OF THE PROJECTS.
